Unique Artistic Branding Photography For the Artistic Entrepreneur

Small Business Branding Photography On Digital and 35 MM Film | Multimedia Photographer, Tai Lee Photography

When Rachel reached out to me we really connected over artistic vision, and knew we could co-create together in a really cool way. She wanted to be photographed in the desert in Utah with her jewelry pieces that she has created for her brand Authorne. She wanted an artistic style approach that felt moody and warm. Her mood board was themed Editorial Artistry, and the vision was artistic lifestyle shots, showing a narrative of the day, with candid, and relaxed moments, full scenes with landscapes, and detail shots. We paired monochromatic colors and textures, with pops of black here and there on the desert rocks, warm textures and colors on the rock to create images that felt like moments instead of ordinary stills of her pieces. It was the perfect scenario to implement some 35 mm film, and some 120 mm black and white film, to bring a grainy, behind the scenes feel to the images to do justice to the brand and the wearable art pieces. Rachel’s brand Authorne creates pieces with a beautiful background and story, and even the commissioned creation process is an artistic experience. Each piece holds its own story, and therefore will resonate with the wearer in a way that is deeply meaningful to them. I fell in love with the way Rachel described her process, and the stories behind the pieces we worked with on our shoot and loved creating in the desert at Utah’s Luxury Amangiri Resort to do justice to her work.

We started our first day out with flowy, natural materials, and focused on getting some unique and artistic headshots, using the stairway, and the neutral toned colors of the walls surrounding the pavillion at Camp Sarika as a backdrop, and even some of the windows that let light shine through in a way that looked like water and watercolor paint with a soft glow. We shiften into more editorial looks for Rachel, and this is where we worked her pieces into her freaking awesome style. Each outfit was its own art piece, topped off by Rachel’s bespoke pieces. We wandered to the private terrace with desert panorama views, and integrated the private, heated pool into our shoot. The elements of earth and water paired well with the overall vision and the blue water brought a softness into the images. The gold pieces in the blue water are some of my favorite color pairings.

Day two began with some more editorial shots in the harsh sunlight with the desert rocks as our backdrop. Rachel had THE COOLEST structural pieces, and the monochromatic look on the stone was *chef’s kiss*. The session evolved into a more laid back, relaxed, and casual mood, where we utilized the bathroom and bed areas. This is where we the behind the scenes feel came in with soft silks, and reflective mirrors and windows.

At the end, I took a little time with just the pieces, and paired them in various ways with elements from nature and also accessories from the Amangiri room. It was the perfect way to spend a few days, and I LOVED being able to highlight Rachel’s brand Authorne, Rachel’s pieces, and just her in a unique and creative way, and I hope you enjoy scrolling through and getting some brand photography inspiration.
