ALEX + EMILY’S COZY MOUNTAIN WEDDING
Emily | “Is it extra if I wear this pink fur coat?”
Me | “Never.”
Where do I even start with this wedding day? I was excited for it from the minute I got Emily’s inquiry. We had an instant common ground in reading and music and we totally clicked on the romantic vibe she was wanting for her wedding photography. I got to meet Emily and her mom Penny in person and address their questions and what they had envisioned for the wedding day and the romantic, intimate vibe they were going for came together beautifully.
Alex and Emily were such a cool, chill couple to work with. They were totally present and in the moment throughout their wedding day. They had such a laid-back, go-with-the-flow attitude and you could tell they both thoroughly enjoyed being together, uniting in marriage, and spending that day with their closest friends and family members despite the snow that decided to show up the night before—it was only mid October! They totally embraced the weather and whatever came their way that day. But keep in mind if you are planning your wedding at Louland Falls (or anywhere in Northern Utah for that matter), there is a rare possibility of snow in mid-late October.
The wedding was at Louland Falls and it was so cozy and gorgeous nestled in the mountains. It was super easy to get to and right off the highway just outside of Salt Lake City, but felt secluded and intimate. It has a natural waterfall area along with some hiking trails that are easy to climb to get to the scenic overlook, giving an adventurous feel to some of the couple photos.
As usual, here are a few highlights from the wedding day:
The gigantic smile that never left Penny’s face the entire day
Alex propping his phone up on the double light switch so he could watch a YouTube tutorial on tying his necktie
Gary (Emily’s dad) seeing Emily in her dress for the first time. Lots of tears and tissues.
Emily’s pink fur coat
Alex tearing up as Emily walked down the aisle towards him. Is there anything better than groom tears? Maybe dad tears…but groom tears are right up there.
The sand ceremony (signifying the coming together of two lives)
And of course. the party!
Enjoy! Bonus points if you can spot the black and white film shots. Hint—I used a tilt shift lens for those ones which game some unique blur in the photos.
