Utah Engagement Photos in Provo Canyon, Utah

Free-Spirited, Artistic Photography by Tai Lee Photography

This engagement photo session took place in Provo Canyon in this beautiful golden field surrounded by the Utah mountains. There are so many engagement locations to choose from for your photo session so if you’re wondering where you can get engagement pictures done in Utah, I would highly recommend scouting out Provo Canyon. You’ve got Vivian Park as well as Sundance, where the Timpanogas trailhead starts, to choose from. They’re easy to put into your GPS and to travel to. You can drive right to them and you have got a great backdrop for your photos. The sun does go behind the mountain really quickly in Sundance so you’ll want to plan to start your session an hour to an hour and a half earlier than usual. Most photo sessions are scheduled during “golden hour” which is about 1-2 hours before sunset. So for an engagement session in Sundance, you’ll want to start about 3-4 hours before sunset so you don’t lose the pretty sunlight and have it get dark on you too soon to the point that you are having to rush through the session.

If you are wanting something that is a little more secluded, there are multiple pull out spots in Provo Canyon between Provo and Heber, UT that won’t have swarms of people and I’ve got a handful of “secret locations” in the canyon that aren’t as heavily populated with other people.

One thing a lot of couple wonder is how far in advance they should book their engagement photos. There isn’t a right answer to this, but ideally you want to send out your announcements at least 6-8 weeks before the wedding date, or more if your guests need to travel, such as for a destination wedding. It can take photographers anywhere from 1 week to 2 months to get you your engagement photos back, just depending on their schedule so you want to be sure to plan to schedule your session at least 4 months before your wedding day to allow plenty of time to get your photos back. My turnaround time is typically 2-3 weeks, but there’s no reason to cut it too close to crunch time than is necessary.

Another question a lot of couples have is how much do photographers charge for engagement pictures. This can vary widely, but I offer two different options. Option 1 is if you just want and engagement session, and option 2 is a different price because it is included with wedding coverage as well. Reach out to me for a custom quote and to figure out which option best meets your needs.
