Utah Salt Flats and Mountain Elopement

When it comes to Utah, there is no shortage of killer locations to choose from. One of the locations Utah is known for is the Bonneville Salt Flats and is such a great place to elope. With it’s wide open landscape and minimal background, the salt flats have a modern, magical vibe. This elopement started out at a nearby location in a rocky field of boulders and ended on the Salt Flats with an almost full moon in the background.

So many non-traditional elements went into this session. The bouquet was dried flowers and plants, the perfect mixture of soft pinks, nudes, and muted greens, the dress was rented, and baby’s breath was scattered in Macy’s hair. I loved the combination of the stone necklace with the soft florals, and embroidered dress. The brown suit was the perfect compliment to the entire look with its earthy brown colors and it went so well with the background.

As the sunset and the moon shone, we drove along the highway to find a place along the salt flats that we could stop for some intimate, post-elopement photos. There was a shift in mood and colors from the earthy tones to the minimalistic blues and whites that you get when you are at the salt flats. The moon in the background was the perfect accent.

This elopement was so simple, non-traditional and it was GORGEOUS. Wedding planning does not have to be complicated. It doesn’t have to be over the top. It can focus on the details that mean the most to you, and include a small group of people or can be just the two of you. They allow for intentionality and finding meaning in simplicity and I would highly recommend considering the salt flats when planning your elopement or intimate wedding.
