I met Shelby on Instagram and was so excited to set up a family photo shoot for her. I traveled to Logan, Utah for this family session and we found the coolest spot for pictures near the mountains. If you need a location in Logan for your family pictures, be sure to check out Green Canyon. It’s got a really good variety of scenery and beautiful light a couple of hours before sunset.

One of the first things I noticed about Shelby was her INCREDIBLE red, curly hair and the cool thing about it is how much it matches her personality. Shelby’s energy is soulful, earthy, and magical and I love it. Her family is beautifully connected and it was so fun to play in the mountains in the pretty light. I pulled out a roll of some of my favorite film to compliment the session and also played around with doing some double exposures. I love the light leaks that dance across the film images, given it a painterly effect, as though someone made a brush stroke of light on the film. I loved photographing this family and they were all so open to just expressing who they are and being with one another. Their outfits they chose went so perfectly with the setting with the soft blues and pinks with neutrals and layers. They did such a great job at choosing what to wear. I received the pictures from my family session tonight from our session with Tai about 2 weeks ago. When I opened them and looked through I genuinely cried. They are so beautiful. They are pure magic. They embody the life I feel and see for my family. She captured us as we are. Tai is artistic and visionary. She played with light and shadows, embraced the surroundings and the roaring wind. She captured life as it was. The photos spark memories and a sweetness we feel from life in the past, present, and future. We are in awe of how beautifully she captured our family. Our photos are breathtaking. Thank you for blessing my family with your gift Tai. These pictures are priceless.

Just a quick note—literally everyone I talk to says they are not photogenic, and that they don’t know how to act in front of the camera. Guess what? I’ll guide you through the whole process.
