Salt Lake Family Photography at Studio 1918 | The Browns

100 years ago, back before covid came around and the world was still normal, I did some family photo sessions at studio 1918.  Needless to say, when our country basically shut down, I dropped the ball on blogging, and basically all things business.  Who knew what was heading our way?  Am I right or am I right?  But that’s another story for another day.  We’re 4 or so months into things and I’m just starting to pick up the pieces a bit and am trying to catch up and want to share the family sessions that we did in Salt Lake, starting with this one.

You want to know what I love about photographing families?  I know this is something a lot of people worry about, and I just want to put it at ease.  And I continue to work to put it at ease at every single time I photograph a family.  I love that your kids don’t want to just sit still for a photo.  I love that they want to play, and may be a little scared of me and may want some extra mama or daddy snuggles.  So many people apologize for their kids, but I honestly love where kids take a session.  They don’t need a lot of direction.  Their walls are not so big.  Sure, they may be a little shy around me, but if we play tickle games, or have races, or snuggle matches, they’re ALL about it!  Their inhibitions are not so high.  Kids are just open and free little spirits and I love it.

Their parents are their safety net and they can actually have a really good experience having their photos taken because they get to play with their parents--the ultimate dream for them right?  So next time you are having family photos taken, think about the experience you want to have with your children.  Let this be a moment of connection.  Don’t worry, I can guide them when it’s needed, and may bribe them a bit with some smarties, but we’ll make it through.  And you’ll have such a fun time.  I’m not judging you or your kids on their obedience.  I just want to see them shine through, and document the beauty of the love that so readily shines through.

Anyway, on to the photos!  And can we all just have a moment of silence for the curls???  I’m just a bit envious over here.

Hey there!  Want photos that speak to who you are, that captures your connection?  Not into cookie cutter?  Me either.  Let me show you through photographs the beauty in your day to day, that already exists.  SEND ME A QUICK NOTE and let’s create beautiful images for you.  Fall tends to fill up quickly.  CONTACT me for pricing details and availability.
